Bakersfield’s BEST Cultural Music Festival Honoring Law Enforcement BPD/BPOA/KLEA – PAL

A “Special” Tribute to Merle Haggard

Legendary Country & Western Tex-Mex recording artist, Johnny Rodriguez is returning to Bakersfield, home of his two good friends, icons Merle Haggard and Buck Owens to link honoring Kern County’s Law Enforcement  BPOA/BPD/KLEA and giving “Special” Tribute to the Late Legend, Merle Haggard.

Johnny Rodriguez will perform at a Cultural Music Festival concert on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Bakersfield Music Hall of Fame in support of Kern County’s Law Enforcement.   Mr. Rodriguez is well-known for his generosity and music in Kern County and is no stranger to Bakersfield and has long been a supporter of CSUB, local Kern County Veterans, including nationwide and abroad, performing for the children of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School in prior years.

This favored son of Texas has performed for three U.S. Presidents in the White House including Jimmy Carter and both George Bush, Sr. and Jr.  He has been highlighted for his contributions in music and history.  In 1991, he received the Annual Tejano Music Award and in 2007, he was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame; and  in 2010, received the Pioneer Award from the Institute of Hispanic Culture bridging the Hispanic community and “Real” Country music together with bilingual songs.  Johnny has released 35 albums charting 45 singles achieving International stardom.

Also appearing with Johnny Rodriguez at Bakersfield Music Hall of Fame will be local recording artists: Johnny Owens (son of Buck Owens) and Buck Fever Band; uprising Recording Artist, Kadin Hernandez, and Mariachis San Marcos and Mariachi, Brian Anaya (8 yrs. Old) and Bakersfield Bests! Musicians:  Guitarist, Rick “Reno” Stevens, Fiddle player, Ernie Lewis, Steel Guitar, Kyle Appleton will be accompanying Mr. Rodriguez’s band members from Texas.  Color Guard will lead the concert with our National Anthem being sung by special guest, CHP Officer, Robert Rodriguez.

Our goal is to join together as we ALL celebrate our heritage and recognize Kern County’s Law Enforcement and community pride in our great Bakersfield city.  Proceeds go toward Bakersfield Police Officers Association (BPOA) non-profit formed to assist Officers and their families during their time of need, as well as assist in promoting BPOA/KLEA through donations towards various community friendly evens.  Additionally, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the PAL center which fosters Kern County at risk youth.  Your generous contribution, whether large or small, shows support for our Bakersfield Police Officers.
