Avoiding Date Rape Drugs

1. Try not to go out to clubs or parties alone.  Take a friend who you can trust.
2.  Never accept drinks from strangers or people you have just met.  You never know what may have been put in the drink before it gets to you.
3.  Never leave your drink unattended.  If you have to walk away from your drink make sure your friend keeps an eye on the drink while you’re away.

4.  When ordering a drink from the bar, watch the bartender make the drink and ask questions if something doesn’t look right.

5.  If you begin to feel unusually drowsy or “out of it”, make sure you tell your trusted friend and do not leave their side.  Have your friend take you to a place of safety.

6.  If you are alone at a bar and you feel like you may have been drugged, never leave the bar with a stranger or someone you just met.  Call a friend or call 911 if you feel like you are in danger.

*Remember that date rape drugs come in many forms, such as pill and liquid.  They are often colorless and odorless.  They can be mixed in a drink with no obvious sign and you would never know it until you start felling the effects.

*If you feel like you have been the victim of a drugging call the police immediately.  These drugs usually have a short detection period in the blood and need to be tested for right away.
