Officer David Nelson Thank You

July 30, 2015

To all our family members, friends, colleagues, and supporters throughout the community,

The men and women of the Bakersfield Police Officers Association (BPOA) are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming support shown following the recent line-of-duty death of BPD Officer David Nelson. Since David’s tragic death, donations to his family have been pouring in to the BPOA Officer Assistance Fund from all over the country via the BPOA website (www.bpoa.us).

The BPOA would like to acknowledge and send special thanks to President Mark Hiaungs and the Kern Law Enforcement Association (KLEA), President Bryon Sandrini and the Kern County Officer Down ‘999’ Foundation, Jeff Salters and Salty’s Barbecue & Catering, and the Bakersfield and Kern County Officer Wives group for all their help in hosting David’s Bakersfield Memorial Service Reception.

Also our thanks go out to California State Attorney General Kamala Harris for speaking at David’s Los Angeles funeral service, and to President Ben Bateman and the Glendale Police Officers Association for their assistance, logistical support, and hospitality prior to David’s Los Angeles funeral services.

Officer David Nelson (EOW 6/26/15) will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace brother, we’ll take it from here.

Todd Dickson, President
